National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Program

We are pleased to announce that the Illinois State Board of Education
awarded two contracts for the National Board for Professional Teaching
Standards (NBPTS) Program for 2007-2008. The two contractors are the
National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University (NBRC)
directed by Dr. Lynn Gaddis, NBCT and the Iroquois/Kankakee Regional
Office of Education (I-KAN) directed by Vicki Hensley, Assistant Regional
Superintendent.

aligned to deliver services to support National Board Certified Teachers and

The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University identified seven NBCT Regional Coordinators (RCs) to coordinate the work of the NBCT Local Coordinators (LCs). The RCs are assigned to an ROE/ISC Support site and the LCs are assigned to each ROE in Illinois. |
The Iroquois/Kankakee Regional Office of Education identified seven Regional Offices of Education (ROE) and one Intermediate Service Center (ISC) to serve as a Regional Support Site to communicate with ROEs throughout Illinois. |

· Process Candidate Applications. · Maintain a website with resources for candidates and NBCTs. · Conduct Summits and Communicate with NBCTs to Deliver Services. · Arrange and Deliver Awareness Sessions. · Arrange Pre-candidacy/Jumpstart Sessions (Mar.-June) · Network Candidates in targeted schools to NBCT Mentors. · Arrange Take One Entry Sessions. · Arrange Candidate Support. · Arrange Retake Candidate Support. · Connect Candidates to NBCT Mentors. · Arrange and Deliver NBCT Mentor Training for Candidates (Apr. - June). · Arrange and Deliver NBCT Mentor Training for TAKE ONE Candidates (June). · Communicate with ROE Hubs and ROEs to partner with NBCTs to Deliver Services. · Conduct Questionnaires for Withdrawal Candidates. · Conduct Questionnaires for Teachers Choosing Not to Seek NBC. · Prepare Reports on Growth of IL National Board Program. · Manage the Database. |
· Recruit and assist in the deployment of at least 200 additional NBCT mentors to targeted* schools. · Process forms for Mentoring/Professional Development Compensation. · Process forms for the Master Certificate Stipend. · Maintain a website with forms and submission information as well as resources for NBCT’s and Candidates. · Create and maintain an open line of communication with ROE Regional Support Sites, NBCT Regional Coordinators, and ISBE Contract Administrator to partner with NBCTs to Deliver Services. · Match NBCTs who submitted Intent to Mentoring/Professional Development Form to Candidates in targeted schools and TAKE ONE Participants. · Arrange and Deliver NBCT Mentor Training throughout the State for Candidates (January - March). · Arrange and deliver Induction for the 21st Century Training (ICE21) for NBCTs (June). · Construct and administer (via e-mail) a questionnaire for NBCTs choosing not to provide Mentoring/Professional Development. · Communicate with ROE Regional Support Sites to match NBCTs to candidates and TAKE ONE Participants. · Report activities. · Manage the Database. |
